Pastor Larry Jones

What do you want God to do with your life? Having been born to an unwed mother and adopted into a family troubled by an alcoholic dad, abuse, and divorce, I know that life has its storms. I also know that God works in the midst of the storm and often uses people in our lives to help us through. A strong faithful parent; a caring teacher, or coach; a loving, dedicated mate; a caring, truth conscious pastor; a listening supportive friend; a loving child reaching up for your hand… these are the people God used in my life to help me… change me…  And this is what I want God to do through me in the lives of those I meet on this journey.

What do you enjoy the most about ministry? That’s a tough question… Close to the top of the list would be communicating the Word, but there is something I value more than that. It’s sort of the context of pastoral preaching. It is my place in church life. My life is deeply enriched by sharing the lives of those who are part of our church. I genuinely love the people of SFBC, and enjoy every contribution I can make to enhance our journey together as we follow our Savior.

How long have you been at SFBC? I was called as Pastor in 2000.

Where were you raised? On the high plains of the Texas Panhandle.

When did you start preaching? I preached my first sermon in 1973.

Outside of Church life what do you enjoy doing? I enjoy spending time with my best friend, Carol, our children, and grandchildren. I also enjoy reading history and science (fiction and non-fiction), drawing, learning new things, and participating in public service, and music.

Tell us something people don’t generally know about you. Now that’s hard to come up with for someone who is in the public, and works hard at being transparent. Perhaps it is my love for physical exercise… although my body doesn’t enjoy it like it used to, I love to push it to the limit. I also love to explore. Oh… and Disney World is one of my favorite places on earth.

Associate Pastor Michael Barnes

My name is Michael Barnes and I am the Associate Pastor of Santa Fe Baptist Church. I entered the ministry in my first full time roll in April of 1997 and  have been working with the church since September of 2001.  On the church's 25th anniversary service in 2005 I was ordained by Santa Fe and have been involved in multiple ministries while at the church. Some of the ministries I have been involved with include the children’s ministries, youth ministries, adult teaching classes, church finance, children’s home in Mexico City, and working with the church through the acquisition of the new church property on f.m. 646. December of 2008 I graduated with a Bachelors degree in History and I plan to continue my education with a masters in theology.
My life outside of ministry has been filled with blessings from God by way of my family. Betsy has been a great help and blessing to me and my ministry and the addition of Nora and Collin has given another level of joy while “relaxing” at home. Along with family I enjoy travelling, playing/watching sports, and music. I would like to personally thank all who took time to view my bio.If you need to contact me whether for prayer or just for casual conversation please do so through the following contact information. I hope to hear from you and help you in any way that I can!

Associate Pastor Jerry Petty

I graduated from Carrizo Springs, Texas High School in May of 1953. The next year was spent at Southwest Texas Jr. College in Uvalde, Texas. Following were a number of years as a Radio Announcer until my conversion on January 18,th 1965 at the age of 29. Four months later in April God called me into the ministry. The next ten years were spent pastoring three churches in Texas. After ten years in the ministry God spoke to me and told me to go to school. In 1974, I entered Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MIssouri, graduating in May of 1978 with a BA in Theology. While in school, I pastored Fundamental Baptist Church in Walnut Grove, Missouri. Moving back to Texas in 1982, I was subsequently called as pastor of Kings Row Baptist Church in Alvin, Texas. For the next 18 years I served as the senior pastor of this fundamental, independent, baptist church. I retired in November 2001 because of health problems. Since that time I have had the blessing and honor of serving as Associate Pastor under Pastor Larry Jones at Santa Fe Baptist Church in Santa Fe, Texas.
